So how do you become an expert if you do not now? Here are some key ways to get expert status:
Keep learning: Being an expert means willing to expand your knowledge of what you know. This means educating yourself so you stay on top of your niche. You can not say that you are finished learning because there will always be something new to learn. If you want to become an expert, you must learn to invest in yourself.
Network: Build strong relationships with others in your field. You have to find people in your niche and be willing to help people who are less knowledgeable than you. You also need to promote yourself to others. If you are not sure how to do this, take a course in it. Practice: Being an expert means practicing what you preach. If you know something that no one else knows, show that you know it by the way of life every day. If you know how to set up a car like no one else did, do it in your own car first. Set an example for others. If you do, people will see you, know that you are truly and expert.
Presentation skills: Learn to use any technology available to you, so you can present your skills to others. This means using whatever is available to you including your website, PowerPoint, mail, e-mail, text, pictures, public conversations, or any media you choose.
Share: As an expert, do your best to share your knowledge and experience with others. If you know something that can help others, share it. By helping others, you in turn help yourself. Doing all of the above means I will be called an expert. Well, yes and no. You will be on your way. You will at least understand what it means to be an expert. This is the biggest step of all. Once you realize the above, you will become an expert.
